Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has promised that the long-delayed Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation (PRLI) scheme will be completed within the stipulated time frame, finally transforming the parched lands of Palamuru into fertile fields.
Speaking at a public meeting in Devarakadra constituency on Friday, after laying the foundation stone for 12 new power substations, Bhatti Vikramarka assured locals that funds would not be an obstacle for the project’s progress. “We will release the required funds without any delay,” he declared, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the farmers of Mahabubnagar district.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that funds for Resettlement & Rehabilitation (R&R) and land acquisition would be disbursed immediately, plugging critical gaps in the project’s progress. “When Rs. 70 crore was needed for the Uddandapur R&R package, the government sanctioned the amount without a second thought. The same approach will be followed going forward,” he said, underscoring the government’s determination to see the project through.
Bhatti Vikramarka launched a scathing attack on the previous BRS regime, accusing it of looting the state’s coffers while pretending to be saviours of the people. “Even their own family members are now revealing the truth,” he remarked. Under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, he said, Telangana is seeing real democracy in action, with public funds being deployed to benefit citizens rather than political cronies.
He urged voters to elect representatives who will stand up for people’s rights rather than chase contracts and deals. “It’s your MLA’s job to raise your voice in the Assembly and uphold democratic values, not run businesses,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister reminded the gathering that the Congress government is a people’s government, committed to fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of every Telangana citizen.
Touching on the decades-old aspiration to harness the Krishna River’s waters, Bhatti Vikramarka recalled how the people of Palamuru had demanded a separate state so their lands could flourish. “But in ten years, the previous rulers couldn’t bring irrigation to a single acre,” he said, dismissing the last-minute election-time gestures like switching pumps on and off at Narlapur as mere illusions designed to hoodwink voters.
