42% reservation bill

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday demanded the immediate clearance of the 42% reservation bill for Backward Classes, urging the BJP-led Centre to stop denying rights to weaker sections.

Bhatti announced that the full Telangana cabinet, along with all MLAs and MLCs, would travel to Delhi to press the Union government for approval of the reservation bill, passed by the Assembly and forwarded to the President via the Governor. He recalled that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had promised these quotas in local bodies, education, and employment.

He assured beneficiaries not to worry about pending Indiramma housing bills, stating the government would release funds weekly, tied to construction progress. Currently, 4.5 lakh houses are under construction, with 3,500 allotted to each constituency, at a total cost of ₹22,500 crore.

The Deputy CM noted that under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, 200 units of electricity are being provided free. In Vikarabad district, 1.57 lakh of 2.10 lakh domestic consumers 74% benefit from this scheme, with the government covering their electricity bills.

On education, Bhatti announced the construction of Young India Integrated Residential Schools in 104 constituencies. Each school will span 25 acres, cost ₹200 crore, and be designed to surpass private institutions in quality and reach.

He said women were denied interest-free loans under the previous government. The Congress administration has now revived the system, with SHGs receiving loans to purchase RTC buses and establish solar units. The target, he said, is to make one crore women crorepatis.

Bhatti said the state government is implementing a calibrated welfare strategy aimed at uplifting every household, with sector-specific interventions in housing, power, education, and women’s empowerment.
