Hyderabad: A massive Hyderabad real estate scam involving former IAS officer RP Singh has come to light, with 672 investors filing formal complaints with CCS police over alleged fraud tied to the I-Tower project in Khajaguda.
The investors accused Singh of misleading them into purchasing flats in the I-Tower residential complex, being built on Survey No. 19 in Khajaguda. Though 80% of the construction is reportedly complete, the project has now run aground amid ownership disputes.
Singh, who owns the 10-acre site, had signed a joint development agreement with a construction firm. However, a legal conflict within Singh’s family has derailed the project.
According to the complainants, Singh had gifted 3 acres and 24 guntas of the land to his daughter, Chetna Kaur. After her death, Singh’s wife Harvinder Kaur allegedly cancelled the gift deed without the knowledge of Chetna’s husband. The land was then handed over for development, with no disclosure to buyers.
The ownership tangle came to light during a standard bank loan check, pushing anxious investors to turn to CCS police. With the legal status still unclear, many buyers have hit a wall—loan approvals are on hold, and some are already falling behind on EMIs.
RP Singh is currently in CCS police custody. Separately, the I-Tower construction firm had earlier filed a complaint against him at the Rayadurgam police station.
Buyers allege that Singh and his family withheld critical details about the land’s ownership, leaving hundreds of investors blindsided and facing heavy financial losses.
