Hyderabad: Excise officials seized 699 litres of illicit liquor during fresh raids across Hyderabad on Wednesday, continuing a state-wide crackdown on unauthorised toddy and compound liquor units.
Raids were carried out in Mallakunta, Mangalhat, and Gudimalkapur under the Greater Hyderabad limits. Three cases were registered and three persons arrested.
In Mallakunta, 70 litres of illicit liquor were destroyed, and a suspect identified as Mallappa was taken into custody. A separate case was booked against S. Basavaraj.
In Mangalhat, officers seized 247 litres of liquor being sold without permission from a shop run by B. Anil Goud, who was arrested. A case was also registered against Ramachandraiah.
Gudimalkapur’s Heera Nagar saw the largest seizure: 382 litres of unauthorised liquor from an illegal depot. The operator, Goda Raghavender Goud, was arrested. Ramakrishna Goud was booked in the same case. All three cases have been handed over to the Dhoolpet excise station.
Separately, excise CI Nagaraju led raids on multiple liquor depots in Serilingampally.
Enforcement Director Shahnawaz Qasim directed officials to continue raids across the state, collect liquor samples for lab testing, and register cases immediately if adulteration is detected.
He ordered that all unauthorised liquor shops be sealed and sellers prosecuted. He also sought detailed data on toddy societies, shops operating under them, and the sources from which they procure stock.
The move follows recent adulteration cases reported in Kukatpally, prompting tougher enforcement.
