Hyderabad Urban Policy

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed municipal and urban development officials to prepare a long-term urban policy for Hyderabad with a 25-year outlook, taking into account the city’s growing population and infrastructure needs.

The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting on ongoing civic and infrastructure works in the Greater Hyderabad region. Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the status of multiple development projects currently underway.

Revanth Reddy emphasised the need for a comprehensive policy tailored specifically for the Hyderabad core urban region. He said the plan must also cover semi-urban and rural areas, and called for a clear strategy to be drafted for all zones.

The Chief Minister reviewed the status of the H-CITI development initiative and instructed officials to factor in long-term needs while planning within the Outer Ring Road limits. He stressed that essentials like drinking water, drainage, roads, metro lines, and elevated corridors must be planned as part of a single, integrated framework.

Officials provided an update on the current status of water supply and sewage treatment plant projects under GHMC limits. The Chief Minister told them to expedite incomplete works wherever possible.

He also instructed civic officials to maintain strict sanitation standards, especially during the monsoon season, and to take preventive steps to contain the spread of seasonal diseases like dengue and chikungunya.

Also present at the meeting were CM Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, CM Secretary Manik Raj, MA&UD Secretary under HMDA Ilambarithi, District HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, FCDA Commissioner K. Shashanka, HMWSSB MD Ashok Reddy, MRDCL MD EV Narasimha Reddy, Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy, and other key officials.
