Hyderabad: Two police personnel from Konaseema district were killed in a road accident near Durgapuram on the Kodad bypass early Thursday morning after their car rammed into the rear of a lorry on the national highway.
Police identified the deceased as Ashok, sub-inspector of Alamuru, and constable Swamy. Two other occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries. Their condition is stated to be critical.
According to officials, the car was travelling at high speed when it hit the lorry from behind near Durgapuram. The accident occurred around dawn.
Local police reached the spot soon after receiving information. The injured were pulled from the vehicle and shifted to Kodad hospital.
Preliminary investigation suggests that overspeeding and drowsiness may have led to the crash. A case has been registered.
