Congress Farmers Scheme

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday said the Congress party stands for agriculture and reaffirmed its commitment to farmers through a series of support schemes already implemented in Telangana. He was speaking at a press conference alongside other ministers following the TPCC Political Affairs Committee meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan.

Bhatti listed out major initiatives taken by the Congress government in the farming sector: ₹2 lakh farm loan waivers, 24-hour free electricity, investment assistance, crop insurance, and a ₹500 per quintal bonus for fine rice cultivators.

He said that within nine days, ₹8,675 crore had been directly credited to over 67 lakh farmers covering 1.49 crore acres under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. The total disbursal under the scheme so far stands at ₹21,763 crore, he said.

Under the free electricity scheme, the state government paid ₹17,091 crore to power companies on behalf of 29.4 lakh farmers. Bhatti added that ₹1,199 crore was paid as bonus to farmers growing fine grains.

He also noted that 42.16 lakh farmers are now covered under Rythu Bima insurance. Under the Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa scheme, ₹50 crore was transferred to landless agricultural labourers.

Bhatti said the scale and speed of implementation proved the government’s intent to put farmers at the centre of its agenda.
