Hyderabad: The southwest monsoon has made strong progress across India and has already reached the Himalayan region, including Kashmir and Shimla, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Officials said the monsoon has arrived nearly 15 days ahead of schedule this year and is likely to cover the entire country within the next two to three days.
The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall in parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Wind speeds are expected to touch 50 kmph in some areas, prompting advisories for safety.
Roopa, a meteorologist from the Visakhapatnam weather office, urged fishermen to remain cautious and avoid venturing into rough seas under current conditions.
