Hyderabad: Five young men from Hyderabad drowned in the Godavari River near Basara on Sunday after entering deep water and being unable to swim.
They were part of a larger group of 18 who had travelled to Basara for a weekend visit. The incident occurred at a sandy section of the river.
Locals and family members tried to assist but were unable to prevent the drowning. Rescue teams later recovered all five bodies and shifted them to the local area hospital.
The deceased were identified as Rakesh, Vinod, Madan, Rithik, and Bharath. All were residents of Hyderabad.
