Hyderabad Collector urges students to dream big, says education brings true respect

Hyderabad: As classrooms filled up again with the start of the new academic year, Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty delivered a powerful message to students, urging them to chase big dreams and reminding them that true respect in society can only be earned through education.

Speaking at the school reopening ceremony at Syed Murtuza Hussaini Memorial Government Upper Primary School in Golconda Mandal, the Collector personally handed out uniforms, textbooks, and notebooks to the children, symbolising the State Government’s focus on strengthening public education.

Durishetty highlighted that under Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the government was pouring crores of rupees into improving schools from infrastructure to teaching quality so that no child would be denied opportunities because of their background.

In an emotional moment, he shared his own story, recalling how he had once studied in a small government school in his village and, through education alone, rose to become a Collector. “Set your targets high,” he told the students. “If I can do it, so can you.”

Encouraging the children to dream beyond their immediate surroundings, Durishetty called on them to work hard and aim for careers as IAS and IPS officers, doctors, and engineers professions, he said, that would not only transform their own lives but also fill their parents, teachers, and entire communities with pride.

“No matter how much gold or wealth one may accumulate, without education it is all meaningless,” he said firmly, drawing the young audience’s attention to the lasting value of knowledge.

Durishetty also underlined the government’s massive investment in each child’s education over one lakh rupees every year covering everything from teacher salaries and mid-day meals to free uniforms, textbooks, workbooks, and notebooks.

He urged parents to ensure their children attend school every single day without fail, stressing that even occasional absences could hurt a student’s progress. “Family functions can wait,” he advised, “but missing lessons will set your child back.”

Appealing to the broader community, Durishetty called on parents to spread awareness about the facilities available in government schools and encourage more families to enrol their children. The ongoing Badi Bata campaign, he said, should lead to many more children joining school this year.
