Hyderabad: Tragedy unfolded on the outskirts of Ghatkesar in Medchal district in the early hours of Saturday when a car carrying four young IT employees veered off the road and slammed into an electric pole, leaving two dead and two critically injured.
Police said the accident occurred near Edulabad, just past midnight on Friday, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, sending it crashing into the pole with such force that two occupants died on the spot.
The victims were identified as Bhargav from Kuntloor and Varshit from Sainikpuri. Both were working at an IT company in Madhapur and were reportedly returning from a function in Madhavaram when the mishap occurred. Praveen Yadav and Dinesh, who also sustained severe injuries, were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Officers from Ghatkesar Police Station reached the scene soon after being alerted and carried out rescue operations, shifting the injured to a nearby hospital. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, police added.
