Hyderabad: The mystery surrounding the murder of a woman found stuffed in a travel bag near Bachupally was cracked within 48 hours, with police arresting her live-in partner for the crime.
Balanagar Zone DCP Suresh Kumar revealed on Friday that the accused, Vijay Toppa @ Wilson (30), and the victim, Tara Bohra (33), were both from Nepal. The two had first connected on Facebook while still in Nepal. Despite Tara already having two children, they decided to begin a live-in relationship and later moved to Hyderabad to live together.
Tensions between the couple reportedly escalated after Tara became pregnant. According to police, she wanted to terminate the pregnancy, citing her responsibility towards her two existing children. Vijay, however, refused, insisting she continue with the pregnancy and raise the child with him. He also suggested they return to Nepal with the baby an idea Tara rejected outright.
The disagreement turned fatal. Police said Vijay decided to kill her after repeated arguments. He strangled Tara to death using a rope, then bought a travel bag from Kukatpally, packed her body inside, and dumped it in Bachupally to cover up the crime.
With crucial evidence and quick investigation, police traced Vijay and placed him under arrest. He has since been remanded to judicial custody.
