Hyderabad: Former GHMC Deputy Mayor and Congress corporator Baba Fasiuddin was visibly emotional on Wednesday as he accused BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath of politicizing the death of Sardar, a Borabanda local. Fasiuddin claimed Gopinath wrongly blamed him for Sardar’s alleged suicide, even though police reports clarified the death was accidental.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, Fasiuddin expressed deep grief over Sardar’s passing, describing him as a close associate. “His death shook me,” Fasiuddin said. He intended to attend Sardar’s funeral procession but was advised against it by police due to potential law-and-order issues.
Fasiuddin claimed Gopinath incited threats against him, including social media posts calling for attacks on him and his home. “Maganti is playing dirty politics with a tragedy,” he said, alleging the MLA orchestrated a smear campaign and attempted to incite violence.
“I face life threats from rowdy elements,” Fasiuddin said, urging the state government to provide him security. He plans to file a complaint with the Hyderabad City Commissioner against those making baseless allegations.
