Hyderabad: Teams from CCS Balanagar and Jeedimetla Police Station arrested two repeat auto theft offenders in the city today. The suspects, Nakka Srinivas Rao, 32, from Sai Baba Nagar, IDA Jeedimetla, Quthbullapur, and Mohammed Shoheb, 26, from Bowrampet, Dundigal, Quthbullapur, had stolen vehicles worth ₹25 lakh, which were all recovered by the police.
Since 2014, the two have been involved in vehicle thefts, facing over 15 cases in places like Jeedimetla, Suraram, Pet Basheerabad, Neredmet, Kushaiguda, and Shameerpet under Cyberabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates, with prior arrests and time in judicial custody for similar offenses.
The police seized a Hyundai Verna car, an Ashok Leyland Goods Carrier, three Honda Activa scooters, one Royal Enfield motorcycle, a Bajaj Pulsar 150, a Yamaha FZ, and a Honda Shine motorcycle during the operation.
Balanagar L&O ADCP Satyanarayana led the effort, with Balanagar L&O ACP P. Naresh Reddy supervising the teams. Jeedimetla SHO G. Mallesh, DI S. Kanakaiah, CCS Inspector Raju, SIs Pochaiah and Girish, DSI N. Shyam Babu, HC Eleazar, and PCs Arjun, Vishal, and Rajkumar were part of the operation. The police department acknowledged their success in solving the cases and retrieving the stolen vehicles.
Authorities have asked citizens to secure their vehicles with locks, park in areas with good lighting, and use CCTV systems to deter theft.
