Hyderabad: Three countries. One night. Tremors hit China, Afghanistan, and Turkey between Thursday night and Friday morning, leaving residents shaken literally.
China was first. At 6:30 am on Friday, an earthquake struck Yunnan province. Magnitude 4.5. Depth: 10 km underground. National Center for Seismology confirmed it. No casualties. No damage. But enough to rattle people out of their homes.
Afghanistan followed. A 4.0 magnitude tremor hit in the early hours of Friday. Not as strong, but enough to stir panic.
And before both, on Thursday night, Turkey shook. A 5.2 magnitude quake rocked Kulu district, 14 km from the centre of Konya province. The tremors were felt as far as Ankara and other nearby cities.
Locals in several Turkish towns bolted from homes and offices in fear. No loss reported, but the ground didn’t go unnoticed.
