Hyderabad: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is scheduled to visit Telangana on May 5, where he will inaugurate the much-awaited Amberpet flyover and lay foundation stones for a series of infrastructure projects.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, BJP Telangana President and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy confirmed Gadkari’s visit on May 5 and detailed the scope of upcoming initiatives. He said the Union Minister will inaugurate and launch a total of 26 projects valued at ₹5,416 crore. These include national highway expansions and connectivity upgrades, with a strong focus on improving road infrastructure across the state.
The opening of the Amberpet flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in the area, addressing a long-standing issue for commuters.
Kishan Reddy also highlighted the broader national highway development in Telangana. He noted that when the state was formed in 2014, it had just 2,500 kilometres of national highways. A decade later, that figure has more than doubled to 5,200 kilometres.
He said that 32 of Telangana’s 33 districts are now connected by national highways, and emphasised that future investment will continue to focus on road infrastructure and regional connectivity. Projects underway include ring roads and high-speed corridors aimed at reducing travel time between Hyderabad and Srisailam, and a six-lane expressway connecting Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
