HYDERABAD, February 1: The Central Government has approved ₹30,436.95 crore for the construction of the Polavaram project, including revisions to its estimated cost. The decision was announced as part of the Union Budget.
As per the latest approval, the project is permitted to store water up to a height of 41.15 meters. The balance grant for Polavaram has been set at ₹12,157.53 crore.
For the current financial year, ₹5,936 crore has been allocated to the project. Additionally, ₹54 crore has been specifically earmarked for the Polavaram Project Authority.
The funding is expected to expedite the completion of the project, which is crucial for irrigation and drinking water needs in Andhra Pradesh.
