HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for multiple districts in Telangana, warning of an intense heatwave over the next few days.
A red alert has been declared for the undivided Adilabad district on April 23, while undivided Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, and Bhupalpally districts are under orange alert for the same day. Further, red alerts have been extended to undivided Adilabad, Nizamabad, and Jagtial districts for April 24 and 25.
According to the IMD, severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in Adilabad today, tomorrow, and the day after, with temperatures expected to soar to 45°C. In light of these extreme conditions, residents have been advised to take necessary precautions.
The weather department has particularly cautioned vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children to avoid venturing outdoors between 11 AM and 4 PM. The advisory also recommends minimising exposure to direct sunlight and staying hydrated.
The alerts come as Telangana continues to experience rising temperatures, signalling the early onset of peak summer conditions. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines to avoid heat-related illnesses.
