HYDERABAD: A Weather Alert has been issued in Telangana, warning of heavy rains, thunderstorms, and lightning in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast intense weather conditions across several districts and advised the public to exercise caution.
According to the IMD, a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy downpours and strong winds to the state. Yellow and orange alerts have been issued specifically for the districts of Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Warangal, Khammam, and Ranga Reddy.
Experts warned that incidents of lightning are likely over the next 48 to 72 hours. Citizens have been advised to avoid open spaces and not to seek shelter under electric poles or trees during storms.
The State Disaster Management Authority and local administrations have been instructed to ensure proper drainage arrangements in low-lying areas and keep emergency response teams on high alert.
Authorities have urged the public to stay updated with IMD bulletins and avoid unnecessary travel. Extra precautions have been advised for children and the elderly.
The state government has directed all concerned departments to remain vigilant and be ready for immediate response in case of emergencies.
