HYDERABAD: Several parts of Hyderabad experienced rainfall on Friday, accompanied by strong winds, thunder, and lightning. Areas including SR Nagar, Borabanda, Ameerpet, Panjagutta, Madhura Nagar, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Koti, Sultan Bazaar, Begum Bazaar, Abids, Nampally, Basheer Bagh, Himayat Nagar, and Narayanaguda witnessed intense showers.
Rainfall was also reported in Mehdipatnam, Masab Tank, Karwan, Bowenpally, Tirumalagiri, Alwal, Maredpally, and surrounding areas of Quthbullapur, where gusty winds added to the intensity of the downpour. Localities such as Gundlapochampally, Dundigal, Dulapally, Bahadurpally, Miyapur, and Nanakramguda also received rainfall.
Showers continued in Secunderabad Railway Station, Chaitanyapuri, Dilsukhnagar, Miyapur, Gachibowli, and Vanasthalipuram. In the Gandhi Bhavan area, a large tree was uprooted due to the winds. Areas like Champapet, Saidabad, and Saroor Nagar also witnessed rains with strong gusts.
The rainfall led to power outages in several parts of the city, causing significant inconvenience to residents. Vehicular movement was severely impacted, with heavy traffic congestion reported across multiple locations.
The Meteorological Department has forecast more rainfall in various parts of Hyderabad over the coming hour.
