Election Commission releases schedule for three MLC constituencies in Telangana

Notifications for two Teachers' and one Graduates' MLC constituencies to be issued on 3rd February.

Hyderabad, January 29: The Election Commission has announced the schedule for elections to two Teachers’ and one Graduates’ Member of Legislative Council (MLC) constituencies in Telangana. The notification for these elections will be issued on 3rd February 2025, with polling scheduled for 27th February and vote counting on 3rd March.

The constituencies involved are:
• Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Teachers’ MLC
• Karimnagar-Medak-Adilabad-Nizamabad Teachers’ MLC
• Karimnagar-Medak-Adilabad-Nizamabad Graduates’ MLC
The election schedule is as follows:
• Notification Release: 3rd February 2025
• Last Date for Nominations: 10th February 2025
• Scrutiny of Nominations: 11th February 2025
• Last Date for Withdrawal of Candidatures: 13th February 2025
• Polling Date: 27th February 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Counting of Votes: 3rd March 2025

The Election Commission has stated that the Model Code of Conduct will come into immediate effect in the districts where these elections are to be held. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already announced its candidates for these three seats, while the Congress party is in the process of selecting its nominees. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is reportedly deliberating on whether to contest these elections.
