HYDERABAD: A fire broke out at the Singapore school where Mark Shankar, the youngest son of actor and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, is studying. Mark was reportedly caught in the incident and sustained injuries to his legs and hands. Due to thick smoke inhalation, he also experienced breathing difficulties and was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment.
Upon receiving the information, Pawan Kalyan cancelled his scheduled tour of Visakhapatnam and is preparing to leave for Singapore. Meanwhile, videos of the fire at the school have gone viral on social media. The footage clearly shows the blaze originating on the second floor, with fire personnel seen rescuing students from classrooms.
Dense black smoke can be seen billowing from the windows in the video, while students appear visibly terrified as they are evacuated.
Former Minister K.T. Rama Rao, current Minister Nara Lokesh, and veteran actor Chiranjeevi have expressed concern and wished Mark Shankar a speedy recovery. However, no official statement has been released regarding the severity of his injuries.
At the time of the incident, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan was on a tour of the Alluri Sitarama Raju district. Though officials and party leaders advised him to head to Singapore immediately, he stated that he had given his word to visit Kuridi village. He insisted on meeting the tribal residents there first to understand their issues before proceeding abroad.
