Hyderabad, January 25: Farmer suicides continue to be a persistent issue in the state. In Adilabad, another farmer has tragically taken his life. Mamilla Narsayya (55) from Vartamannur in the Bazarhatnoor mandal committed suicide due to the burden of debt. Unable to repay loans for his crops and without the benefit of loan waiver, Narsayya took his life by hanging himself from a tree near his farmland.

Locals informed that Narsayya had cultivated cotton and groundnut on his six acres of land, but due to poor yields, he suffered losses. Reports also revealed that he owed Rs. 2.20 lakh to the SBI in Ittapada and had additional debts amounting to Rs. 3 lakh.

In a similar incident, a farmer died in Wanaparthy district. Khaja Pasha (43) from Chinnamandadi village in the Peddamandadi mandal had two brothers, and they jointly cultivated a two-acre land under their mother’s name. They grew crops, mainly rice, but the yields did not meet expectations. As a result, they switched to dairy farming, purchasing five cows for Rs. 6 lakh. However, the venture was unprofitable, leading to more debt.

Unable to find a way to repay his loans, Khajapasha became deeply distressed and took his life by hanging from a tree near his farm on Thursday afternoon. The police have registered a case based on his wife Fatima’s complaint and are investigating further.
