Hyderabad: Cyberabad Traffic Police booked 283 individuals for drunk driving during a special enforcement drive held over the weekend.
Of the total, 219 cases involved two-wheelers, 50 were four-wheelers, 11 were autorickshaws, and three were heavy vehicles.
Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) readings showed that 265 of the offenders had levels between 35 and 200 mg per 100 ml. Twelve were in the 201–300 mg range. Six were found with BAC between 301 and 500 mg per 100 ml.
All accused will be produced before the court.
The police have warned that anyone found driving in an intoxicated condition and causing a fatal crash will be charged under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The offence, defined as culpable homicide not amounting to murder, carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.
The department urged the public to avoid driving under the influence and follow traffic laws.
